April 21, 2006August 31, 2005Aiding Katrina VictimsVictims of Hurricane Katrina are attempting to recover from the massive storm that is still making its way across the Mid-Atlantic States. American Red Cross volunteers have been deployed to the hardest hit areas of Katrina’s destruction, supplying hundreds of thousands victims left homeless with critical necessities. By making a financial gift to The Hurricane 2005 Relief, the Red Cross can provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to those in need. You don't have to give an extraordinary amount, just give what you are able too. Please give: Hurricane 2005 Relief Donation form, call the Red Cross at 1-800-HELP-NOW(1-800-435-7669), or send your donation by mail. UPDATE: Chris Pirillo reports that there are enormous amounts of free housing and other offers of help to Katrina Victims at Craigslist and help is needed to spread the word about these posts. I've decided I'm going to try seed starting and hopefully have some small plants ready to transplant in my flower beds when spring starts. I've found some good resources on the subject. Gardener to Gardener Seed-Starting Primer and Almanac If I can borrow my son's digital camera I'll take some pictures of my progress.
